You My Ocean – an ocean conservancy expedition of the Americas in 2016

Tuesday, November 17th, 2015

“Our vision is to unite all people to care for and to protect our world’s oceans to create a better future for our world. Realizing we belong to the oceans and the oceans belong to us would greatly change the way we think and act, thus minimizing the impact we have on our planet. It is time to awaken our sense of connection and forge a close relationship to the oceans. Only by caring for and protecting our oceans will future generations create a healthy planet in which to live” – Said CAPT Alfonso López, Founder and President of Oceanforce Foundation.

The 36 year old Argentina native is been at the forefront of the small start up non profit organization since its inception in the year 2009. He is also getting ready to lead a selected crew of sailors and ocean activists in the expedition they call “You My ocean – an ocean conservancy expedition of the Americas”

“This is a great opportunity to bring together an array of skills that are simply natural to us as a group. We breathe the ocean day in and day out through our addiction to water sports and ocean exploration. We were born by the water and our families have struggled to make a livelihood from the ocean. We feel very identified with and care enormously for those coastal communities that are the most affected by today’s ocean decline and are the ones needing the most help. We have learned and are now more capable than ever to bridging those cultural barriers and solving problems by offering tangible solutions that anyone can be a part of.”

Please take a few minutes to watch a demo reel which explains in detail all the aspects of this exciting expedition.

Oceanforce Foundation has a dedicated website for our ocean conservancy sailing expedition. Please visit http://www.youmyocean.com/ for all the details and how to get involved!

Happy Hour for the Oceans @ Raglan Public House

Monday, November 9th, 2015

On Friday November 6th the Oceanforce Foundation family came together to celebrate our first annual “Happy Hour for the Oceans” at Raglan Public House. We had an amazing time with all of our friends, family, volunteers and local community members as we came together and “packed” the venue in support to our ocean conservation projects in San Diego. This is been a great year for our Foundation and one we were eager to celebrate with all of the amazing people who work so hard to keep this vision alive.

Photographer Chris Ramirez, Pro Surfer Johnny “Boy” Corzo, Jim Prewitt, Neal and Areli are all smiles for the ocean!

This is been a year full of challenges and great accomplishments for Oceanforce Foundation. From bringing awareness about local and international ocean pollution issues, to restoring coastal wild habitats in San Diego, to working with local High Schools to research into Microplastic levels near our shores, to helping inner city kids get closer to the ocean and develop a passion for conservation, we have been able to keep the wheel rolling strong with a team of amazing “Ocean Super Heros.”

The venue also served as the perfect platform for Oceanforce Foundation to formally launch our latest conservation program – You My Ocean, an ocean conservancy expedition of the Americas. As most of you know by now, CAPT Alfonso Lopez will be leading this ocean conservation expedition on the foundation’s 35 foot sailing trimaran. Pelicano. The voyage is set to begin some time in January as they cruise along the Mexico coast cleaning up remote beaches as well as surfing, SCUBA diving and working closely with coastal communities in need to help bring solutions to the many threats posed by ocean bound pollution. The expedition is set to air on National and International TV and will also be available on our online platforms to be played and downloaded.

This event was made possible thanks to the generous support of the entire Raglan Public House family, our partners Adventurers and Scientists for Conservation (ASC), One bag One World, the Wahine Project and Wild Willow Farm, as well as our event sponsors Ruts Magazine, Planet X TV, Revolt in Style, Procopio, Fiesta Ziesta and Cleo Body Sugaring. A big shut out to everyone who came out to support our cause and help Oceanforce continue spreading the ocean aloha!
