International Coastal Cleanup Day at the Sweetwater Marsh National Wildlife Refuge 2013

Monday, September 23rd, 2013

Hello everyone ! Here are some photos for our last cleanup at the Sweetwater Marsh National Wildlife Refuge in Chula Vista, CA.

Our cleanup was made part of a much larger ocean conservancy effort during this years International Coastal Cleanup Day – 2013. Volunteers gathered up early morning on Saturday September 21 st to lend a hand and help restore this saltwater marsh to something closer to its original and natural condition.

This time the cleanup site was co-captained in conjunction with our friends Lauren and Jason with Wells Fargo Bank. Our 70 + volunteers worked very hard to collect trash and debris that (for many reasons) has been accumulating in this beautiful wildlife refuge.

We were lucky enough to have our friends from Castle Park High School, Muller Charter School, the South Bay Sea Scouts, the Girls Scouts and numerous community members and other friends come join us on this very special day. We want to thank each and everyone of you for you commitment to creating a healthier San Diego for the local wildlife and for all of us living in this area.

A special mention and thanks also goes to our friend and Refuge Manager Brian Collins with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, as well as our event sponsors Patagonia, Home Depot Foundation, Iron X and Republic Services.

Thanks to each and everyone who helped make this event a TOTAL SUCCESS !
